Drilling Tools

Drilling is a cutting process that uses a drill bit to cut a hole of circular cross-section in solid materials. The drill bit is usually a rotary cutting tool, often multi point. The bit is pressed against the workpiece and rotated at rates from hundreds to thousands of revolutions per minute

Small to medium diameter holes
There are three different drilling solutions to choose from: Solid carbide drills, exchangeable-tip drills and index able insert drills. Hole tolerance, length and diameter are three important parameters to consider when selecting drill type. Each solution has its advantages in different applications.

Indexable insert drills
CoroDrill 880 is designed for productive drilling and is optimized for mid-range tolerance applications in all workpiece materials. CoroDrill 880 is a versatile tool that can do more than a conventional drill, e.g. boring.
  • Step-by-step entrance with perfectly balanced cutting forces enables high penetration rates, reducing the hole costs and providing a stable hole quality Four true cutting edges for improved production economy on diameters above 14 mm (0.551 inch)
  • By pre-setting the CoroDrill 880, a closer hole tolerance can be achieved
  • Typical hole diameter area: 16-63.5 mm (0.630-2.500 inch)
Exchangeable-tip drills
CoroDrill 870 offers high process security with safe chip evacuation for medium tolerance holes.
  • Easy tip changing while tool is in the machine maximizing actual machining time
  • Optimized grades and geometries for various materials increase tool life and penetration rates
  • Typical hole diameter area: 12-26 mm (0.472-1.024 inch)
Solid carbide drills
We have a complete range of solid carbide drills for high-precision holes and deep bores. Recondition your drills with Sandvik Coromant to reduce hole and tool costs down to 50%. Material optimized drills: For specific materials and high precision applications, e.g. CoroDrill 860
  • Multi-purpose drills: Optimized drills for versatility, moderate feeds and for a wide range of materials, e.g. CoroDrill 460
  • Application optimized drills: Dedicated drills for advanced applications such a s deep and micro holes, e.g. CoroDrill 861 and CoroDrill 862
  • Typical hole diameter area: 0.3-12 mm (0.012-0.472 inch)
